Leadership development for early‐career educators: Association report on the ADEA summer program for emerging academic leaders

“…The School of Dentistry at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSA‐SoD) has been fortunate to have a number of LI participants since 2000, but several of these individuals have accepted jobs at other universities or transitioned into other roles within the university, reducing impact at the UTHSA‐SoD. In recent years, ADEA conducted a Summer Program for Emerging Academic leaders, 8 but only three UTHSA‐SoD faculty members have been able to participate due to conflicts with teaching responsibilities at the beginning of the academic year in July and August. Responses by UTHSA‐SoD faculty members on mentoring, career support, and professional development surveys administered over the past 10 years by the School's Faculty Development Committee mirrored the trends reported in the ADEA work environment study.…”
