Lead Projectile Fragmentation on Aluminum Target: Improved Experimental Results

Abstract: We investigate 158A GeV 207Pb projectile fragmentation on Al target using CR-39 nuclear track detectors. A stack containing target-detectors assembly was irradiated at SPS-CERN. After chemical etching, detectors were scanned using an optical microscope to collect the data in the form of etched cone heights. From the cone height measurements, total and partial charge changing cross sections of 207Pb projectiles on aluminum target are determined.
