Lead Compounds

Abstract: All lead‐containing compounds are produced from pig lead through a series of steps, except for the small amount of lead in leaded zinc oxide for which high grade lead ore is used. Most lead compounds are prepared directly or indirectly from lead monoxide, commonly known as litharge. About 80% of the lead in the United States is allocated to use in batteries supplied as either a mixed oxide or as metal.
