“…Several associated finds of iron and bronze implements, and tools and weapons in its direct vicinity, reflect activities of deposition and offerings also known from other late Iron Age ritual contexts (Sievers, 2009(Sievers, , 2010a. Similar practices occur in enclosed and ditched temples, for example, at Gournay-sur-Aronde (Oise) or Tintignac (Corrèze), as well as at sites containing large hoards, such as La Tène (Neuenburg) itself (Maniquet, 2008(Maniquet, , 2009Honegger et al, 2009). At Manching, these objects, among which fragments of a Hallstatt sword and early La Tène helmets stand out, were probably displayed at the central sanctuary and buried or laid down at special occasions.…”

“…Arbabe retém dois do depósito de Tintignac. Um deles é encimado por três grandes círculos unidos: "três grandes anéis de 280 mm de diâmetro cada um (...) dispostos em um triângulo acima do capacete" [Maniquet 2008] A associação recorrente deste motivo ternário com a cabeça parece ser confirmada pela fíbula de bronze de Oberwittighausen (Bade-Wurtenberg), datada do século V a C. n.…”

“…(4) Tiberinus' most interesting decision is the design of a unique iconography for Nemausus, consisting, not of an anthropomorphic deity, but of two military items: carnyx and a Celtic oval shield. The ritual function of carnyxes can be seen in Tintignac in Aquitania where they were ritually deposited at the end of the Iron Age (Maniquet et al 2008) and on the famous Gundestrup Cauldron as part of a ritual procession that involved a large cauldron into which humans were inserted by a male deity. But any connection with the cult of Nemausus seems speculative; the survival of Iron Age knowledge into the Principate in one of Gaul's main Roman veteran colonies seems doubtful.…”
