Le Crétacé supérieur et la limite Crétacé-Tertiaire en faciès continental dans le versant nord des Pyrénées

Abstract

Sur le versant nord des Pyrénées, l'apparition des faciès continentaux, correspondant pro parte au Garumnien de Leymerie, s'échelonne d'Est en Ouest depuis le Campanien jusqu'au Maastrichtien supérieur où ils s'imbriquent dans des faciès marins (Marnes d'Auzas, Petites Pyrénées). Aux formations détritiques hétérogènes qui accompagnent la régression succède une sédimentation carbonatée, lacustre ou palustre. La découverte de nouveaux éléments de datation (Cha-rophytes, Gastéropodes, Ostracodes et Dinosauriens) infirme l'idée d'un synchronisme des calcaires qui en résultent, de plus en plus récents vers l'Ouest où ils franchissent la limite Crétacé-Tertiaire.
