LDH Nanoflower Lantern Derived from ZIF-67 and Its Application for Adsorptive Removal of Organics from Water

Abstract: Layered double hydroxides (LDHs) are commonly used as adsorbents in the treatment of pollutants in water or air but with low adsorptive capacities. The LDH nanoflower lantern was fabricated using zeolitic imidazolate framework-67 (ZIF-67) nanocrystal as the template. The LDH nanoflower lantern has a hierarchically porous structure, with specific surface area of 214.28 m 2 g −1 and pore diameters distributed in the range of 4.2−159.3 nm. Organic dyes in solution including Congo red (CR) and Rhodamine B (RhB) ca… Show more

“…This reveals the (Figure 4d) shows two major peaks at 875.1 and 851.6 eV ascribed to Ni 2p 1/2 and Ni 2p 3/2 with two additional satellites (indicated as "Sat."). [32] Similar results for N-ZIF-(1:0)@NiCo-LDH and N-ZIF-(1:3.5)@NiCo-LDH are shown in Figure S2.…”

“…Figure 1a presents X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern of HCo@NC, and the embeded is the XRD pattern of ZIF-67. As shown in Figure 1a, the inset is the XRD pattern of ZIF-67, the diffractions of ZIF-67 match well with the simulated pattern (Wang et al 2018), demonstrats that the precursor synthesized are phase-pure. The diffraction peaks of the derivate at 2θ=51.88° and 60.62° indicating the formation of HCo-NC (Salunkhe et al 2015).…”

“…A typical example is the solvothermal reaction of ZIF‐67 nanocrystals in ethanol solution of Ni(NO 3 ) 2 , which results in hollow NiCo bimetallic layered double hydroxide (LDH) nanocages. [ 14 ] The compositions of the LDHs can be tuned by using different kinds of nitrates such as Co(NO 3 ) 2 [ 39 ] and Mg(NO 3 ) 2 . [ 40 ] In other cases, hydroxides or oxyhydroxides with different metal compositions were obtained by wet‐chemistry treatments of MOFs with different metal compositions with KOH [ 41 ] and (NH 4 ) 2 S 2 O 8 .…”
