Layer-by-layer fabrication of well-packed gold nanoparticle assemblies guided by a β-sheet peptide network

Abstract: In this study, we describe the first demonstration of well-ordered multilayer thin films of gold nanoparticles through a layer-bylayer (LbL) technique assisted by a polypeptide template. Anionic poly(L-glutamic acid) (PLGA)-modified gold nanoparticles were prepared as building units for LbL self-assembly. Two types of synthetic polymers, poly(L-lysine) (PLL) and poly(allylamine), were used as polycations that carry the same amino groups at the side chain, although the former is a polypeptide and the latter is … Show more

“…It has long been used to functionalize the different surfaces before coating with gold nanoparticles . Gold nanoparticles due to their citrate layer on the surface, they are negatively charged and can attach to positively charged surfaces via electrostatic interaction . So, in this study aligned PU nanofibers were functionalized with PLL and then immersed in gold nanoparticles solution.…”

In this way, very dense and homogeneous decoration with gold nanoparticles on nanofibers was carried out [ Fig.…”

“…2D is determination of β-sheet structure due to ApoE4 activity by CD. The parking of β-sheet of Aβ42 was higher with ApoE4 than that without ApoE4, suggesting tight β-sheet form (Higashi et al, 2010). Using in-silico analysis (molecular docking) for binding complexes of Aβ42 and ApoE isoforms (ApoE2, ApoE3, ApoE4), only ApoE4 exhibits a misfolded intermediate when jointed to Aβ42 (Luo et al, 2010).…”

“…All these properties arise from the features of their molecular structure. Solid phase coatings based on PTs have good antifriction properties, which strongly depend on the conforma tion type [2]. Currently, the majority of investigations of PTs and polypeptides have been conducted in the field of medicine and biology, where their behavior in a liquid phase is of prime importance.…”
