Abstract:Lawsonia intracellularis (LI) is an obligate intracellular proteobacteria that causes porcine proliferative enteritis. The disease affects mainly piglets and has an important role in economic losses in the swine breeding chain, chiefly because it is usually hardly noticed swine herds.
