Lattice QCD study of inclusive semileptonic decays of heavy mesons

Abstract: We present an ab initio study of inclusive semileptonic decays of heavy mesons from lattice QCD. Our approach is based on a recently proposed method, that allows one to address the study of these decays from the analysis of smeared spectral functions extracted from four-point correlators on the lattice, where the smearing is defined in terms of the phase-space integration relevant to the inclusive decays. We present results obtained from gauge-field ensembles from the JLQCD and ETM collaborations, and discuss … Show more

“…Lattice QCD has been extremely successful in providing precise and systematically improvable calculations for the form factors of exclusive semileptonic decays [7], while computations of inclusive quantities relied on the analytic method known as the Operator Product Expansion (OPE) [5,6]. In this contribution we present our latest work [8], regarding one of the first studies of inclusive semileptonic decays of heavy mesons using lattice QCD. This work is based on recently proposed methods [9,10] which allow for a complete first-principle computation of inclusive semileptonic decay rates starting from Euclidean correlation functions obtained from lattice simulations.…”

“…The main goal of this work is to pave the way for a global fit analysis, which includes the full base of NP operators. To further constrain such global one may take advantage of lattice results for the HQE parameters, extracted from meson mass calculations at different quark mass values [58], and scattering matrix for B → X c ν [59,60]. Such results, even if preliminary, could enhance the predictive power of the HQE by better assessing the non-perturbative inputs.…”
