Abstract:Latium was a territory in central Italy that contained the city of Rome. It was divided into two parts, Old Latium (
Latium Vetus
), the original land of the Latini, and Farther Latium (
Latium Adiectum
). The Latini themselves formed a self‐conscious ethnic group, with a common name, customs, religion, language, and similar political systems.
