“…This chain extension reaction consists of the catalyzed addition of the bisphenol to the epoxy resin, at a ratio of bisphenol to epoxy such that the extended resin still has terminal epoxy groups. However, in the case of fire or smoldering, these materials evolve highly corrosive hydrogen bromide, and under some conditions, traces of toxic decomposition products, for instance, brominated dibenzodioxins and dibenzofurans [7].
