Antarctic collections of Globigerina megastoma discussed by Ward (1979) andD'Agostino (1980) have been examined by the authors and found to contain specimens ranging in maximum diameter from 0.11 to 0.35 mm. These populations also demonstrate the full range of aperture position from extraumbilicalumbilical to umbilical.…”

The distribution of calcareous and arenaceous faunas in the Ross Sea bottom sediments is more readily explained by the existence boundary of a calcium carbonate solution (Kennett 1968).…”
