The present state of knowledge of the Cenozoic birds of Argentina" published in Contribution in Sciences in the year 1980, written by the argentine paleontologist Eduardo Pedro Tonni, became a must-read for those interested in the record of fossil birds. In that work, all the records known up to that time are compiled and some comments are made. Since then, there have been crucial advances in unraveling the diversity of Cenozoic birds in Argentina. Based on that work, here is a detailed updated, and annotated list of all known avian records in Argentina that includes representatives of Palaeognathae (Tinamiformes and Rheiformes), Galloanseres (Anseriformes), and Neoaves (Sphenisciformes, Procellarifomes, Suliformes, Charadriiformes, Phoenicopteriformes, Ciconiiformes, Pelecaniformes, Coraciimorphae, Cathartiformes, Accipitriformes, Falconiformes, Cariamiformes, Psittaciformes and Passeriformes). Besides, a substantial contribution is that here are photographs of the holotypes of all the new species that were nominated after Tonni's paper.

In this contribution the record of a Nothrotheriinae (Xenarthra, Tardigrada) ground sloth is reported from the Late Pleistocene of the Northern Pampa of Santa Fe Province, Argentina. The stratigraphic unit where the fossil was collected corresponds to fluvial-palustrine sediments of the Timbúes Formation, outcropping along the Carcarañá River valley. The relative stratigraphic position of this lithostratigraphic unit, observed in several sections mainly on the Paraná River cliffs near Carcarañá River distal area, suggests that it was deposited during the Last Interglacial Stage.The specimen (MPAHND-135), assigned to Nothrotherium cf. torresi, is represented by the proximal two-thirds of a left femur that shows a prominent lesser trochanter and no connection between the third trochanter and the ectepicondyle. The presence of Nothrotherium cf. torresi in sediments related to humid conditions supports the idea that Nothrotheriinae had great ecological tolerance and was capable of inhabiting climates ranging from cold and arid, as was previously proposed, to warm and humid.

Paleontological sites in Argentina with continental vertebrates corresponding to the Marine Isotope Stage 3 (MIS 3) interval are scarce or poorly known. This situation is mainly due to the lack of absolute ages for Pleistocene fossil remains or their bearing sediments that would allow the verification of the chronology established for this interval. However, a few isolated evidences show that continental vertebrates responded to the abrupt temperature changes that characterized the MIS 3 (Heinrich colder events and Dansgaard-Oeschger warmer events). Up to date, continental vertebrate remains of this age have been found mainly in Buenos Aires province, but also in a few sites of northeastern Argentina (such as Entre Ríos, Corrientes, Formosa and Chaco provinces). In Buenos Aires province: (1) Paso Otero, in the Río Quequén Grande valley, evidence of warmer and more humid conditions were found in sediments dated in 37,800 ± 2300 radiocarbon years before present (RCYBP); (2) Mar del Sur, General Alvarado County, coastal marine sediments with continental mammals were dated in 25,700 ± 800 and 33,780 ± 1200 RCYBP;(3) Balneario Saldungaray, in the Río Sauce Grande valley, Tornquist County,
