“…Wells data in the Southern Apennines have never proved the nature of the Adria Paleozoic crystalline basement. Deep wells penetrated Permian‐Lower Triassic units in the Apulian foreland (Figure 2b), mainly consisting of siliciclastic rocks under the AP, without reaching the underlying crystalline basement (Puglia 1 and Gargano 1 wells; see Borrelli et al., 2023; Improta et al., 2000).
