“…Considered in a wide area, the structure of the Guadaiza sector is really the eastern prolongation of that existing from Estepona, passing by Benahavís and reaching the Guadaiza River (Sanz de Galdeano and Ruiz Cruz, 2016a). These sectors are in complete continuity.…”

“…Marbles associated with gneiss also occur inside the Sierra Bermeja peridotite massif, but are referred to as tectonic slices of the underlying Blanca-Guadaiza unit (Sánchez-Gómez et al, 2002;Précigout et al, 2013). These marble-gneiss intercalations connect southward in the Estepona area with the outcrops described above (Sanz de Galdeano and Ruiz Cruz, 2016). To summarize, based on the available literature, none of the potential correlations of the BBMs with similar marbles in contact with the Ronda peridotites can presently be used to corroborate or refute the notion of an early exhumation of the Beni Bousera peridotites as presented in this paper.…”

“…The Alboran Basin opening was accompanied by granitic dykes intrusion within the peridotites and the underlying and overlying crustal metamorphic units from the Internal Domain (Priem et al, 1979;Zeck et al, 1989;Rossetti et al, 2010). Therefore, the understanding of the tectonic context at the time of the granitic dykes intrusion may reveal information on the timing and the mechanism of emplacement of the so-called subcontinental peridotites into the crust, a subject that remains a warm debate for decades (e.g., Kornprobst, 1976;Sánchez-Rodríguez and Gebauer, 2000;Afiri et al, 2011;Sanz de Galdeano and Ruiz Cruz, 2016;Bessière, 2019). However, the tectonic scenario related to these granitic dykes has to take into account the subsequent deformations that affected the Internal domain, such as block rotations related to the Gibraltar Arc tightening.…”
