Laser Techniques Associated with Facial Aesthetic and Reparative Surgery

Abstract: Chronological aging is a natural biological event that is seen particularly in the face. Attempts to correct the results of this facial loss of structural form are sometimes successful. The skin itself is usually neglected, and surgery sometimes fails to achieve the goals expected by the patient. The surgical laser offers an extremely elegant and powerful solution to this problem to complement or enhance the results of selected surgical facial aesthetic procedures as follows: (1) ablative full-face CO2 laser r… Show more

“…The CO 2 laser [13][14][15] emitting a wavelength of 10.6 mm is the state of the art for ablative skin rejuvenation. CO 2 lasers operated in a fractional mode might therefore be expected to achieve more efficient fractional treatments than the near-infrared fractional laser types described previously.…”

“…La piel sigue un lento proceso de recuperación de la flacidez, por lo que este efecto no debería juzgarse antes de dos meses después de la cirugía. Aunque el proceso de recuperación de tejido continúa durante varias semanas después del tratamiento láser 24 , la formación de nuevas fibras de colágeno puede también llevar varios meses. El tensado de las fibras de colágeno, con gran probabilidad, es responsable de la remodelación y corrección de la flacidez cutánea 25,26 .…”

“…Periorbital laser surgery is high-ranked in ophthalmology as it combines the advantages of laser surgery achieved in dermatology and aesthetic surgery. [2][3][4] There are several benefits of laser vs. traditional excision including less bleeding, tissue destruction, minimal occurrence of dyschromia, etc. Furthermore, there is no postoperative edema and/or ecchymosis, and there are smaller amounts of granulation tissue and, less frequently, fewer unaesthetic scar formations.…”
