Laser speckle contrast imaging of blood microcirculation in pancreatic tissues during laparoscopic interventions

Abstract: Laser speckle contrast imaging of the microcirculatory bed of the pancreas is performed, which allows its condition to be assessed and thereby is an additional valuable tool for making a diagnostic decision and dynamically monitoring the effectiveness of the treatment for pathology of the abdominal organs. Laparoscopic operations on the pancreas are low-traumatic and in most cases avoid open surgical interventions. For the first time an experimental system for recording speckle images, combined with a commerci… Show more

“…The proposed technic or any of its elements are applicable to the LSCI or LDF methods in the "in vivo" conditions. For example, when studying soft tissues microcirculation [5][6][7] and when the obtained data samples can be represented in form of one-or multi-dimensional sequences of 10 2 -10 3 elements. For the bigger samples, the deep neural networks should be met.…”

“…The setup for laser speckle contrast imaging consisted of a compact laser module LDM785 with a working wavelength of 785 nm and a power of 20 mW (Thorlabs, USA), a diffuser DG10-1500 (Thorlabs, USA), a polarizer LPNIRE100-B (Thorlabs, USA) and a holder for a polarizer RSP1/M (Thorlabs, USA), as well as a fixed focus lens MVL25TM23 (Thorlabs, USA). Blood flow dynamics was recorded with IDS-3260CP-M-GL R2 camera (IDS Imaging Development Systems GmbH, Germany) 10 .…”

“…These sites are most convenient for research as closely lying vessels provide a higher signal-to-noise ratio. Later, this technology was applied in surgical interventions [123,124].…”
