Laser deposition from a nanostructured YBaCuO target: Analysis of the plume and growth kinetics of particles on SrTiO3

Abstract: The plume generated by a pulsed XeCl laser from a novel nanostructured YBaCuO target (n target) is investigated by methods of optical emission spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy. While the spectral positions of the emission lines are the same, stronger line intensities, pertinent to higher kinetic energy of the particles, are observed in the plumes generated from the n target than from a target having micron size grains (m target). The size of small clusters captured on Si plates assembled inside the plu… Show more

“…Detailed description of the deposition process can be found in [9]. The -and BZO+n-films were 150 nm thick and the n-films had thicknesses of 50, 150, and 500 nm as measured by atomic force microscopy over an etched stripe in the films.…”

“…The superconducting transition temperature ( ∼ 90 K) was determined by resistivity and magnetization measurements, confirming that the YBCO films are near optimally doped. Additional details of their synthesis and characterization can be found elsewhere [15][16][17][18].…”
