Laser assisted orthodontic tooth movement in Saudi population: a randomized clinical trial.

Abstract: Objectives: This study aimed to assess laser assisted orthodontic tooth movement (OTM) among subjects undergoing fixed orthodontic treatment (FOT) of four different treatment modalities (TM). Materials and Methods: Following consort flow diagram, a total of 32 subjects randomly allocated in to 4 different group based on TM. Group A (GA): 8 subjects, FOT with self-ligating bracket (SLB) + low laser irradiation (LLLI), Group A (GB): 8 subjects, FOT with self-ligating bracket + Non-LLLI, Group C (GC): 8 subjects,… Show more

“…The details of inclusion, exclusion, sample size calculation, LE/P (13,15,(16)(17)(18)(19), FOT, methods of the QRR measurements outcome (25) and the reliability are present in Figure 2. CBCT were taken during initial record (Pre) and the day of debonding (Post FOT) are used for the RR outcome measurements.…”

“…Standard arch wire sequences used and changed at 4week intervals between each wire. [12,[21][22][23][24] and human studies among the pain management [13,15,[17][18][19] and acceleration of OTM [12][13][14][15][16] are common. However, QRR during the FOT using LE/P is yet to explored.…”

“…Studies revealed that low level laser therapy (LLLT) has promising benefits on osteogenesis in vitro [ 10 , 11 ], on bone remodeling during orthodontic tooth movement in rats [ 12 ], on acceleration of orthodontic tooth movement in animals [ 13 ] and humans [ 14 , 15 ], on spontaneous and chewing pain caused by elastomeric separators [ 16 ], and on pain associated with the initial stage of fixed orthodontic treatment [ 17 , 18 ]. However, LLLT as OTM on OHRQoL has never been investigated.…”
