Laser-assisted nanofabrication of carbon nanostructures

Abstract: An overview of laser-assisted techniques developed in our group for fabricating carbon nanostructures, including two-dimensional graphene, one-dimensional carbon nanotubes, and zero-dimensional carbon nanoonions, is presented. Unique laser-material interactions provide versatile possibilities in fabricating carbon nanostructures, including localized heating, direct laser writing, tip-enhanced optical near-field effect, polarization, ablation, resonant excitation, precise energy delivery, and mask-free direct p… Show more

“…Y.S. Zhou and co-workers [ 216 ] have also reported on their work with the laser-assisted nanofabrication of CNOs. In this method, exposing a material’s surface to a laser have consequences, such as a narrow heating zone, melting, photochemical reactions, decomposition, etc.…”

“…Therefore, a convenient approach to achieve fast, scalable, and affordable production of graphene patterns for electronic applications is widely required. A recent overview of laser‐assisted techniques developed for fabricating carbon nanostructures, including graphene, nanotubes, and nano‐onions was presented by Zhou et al Rapid, single‐step fabrication of graphene patterns was achieved using laser direct writing. Line‐shaped graphene ribbons of controlled widths and lengths were precisely fabricated on a Ni foil without extra annealing and lithographic patterning procedures.…”
