“…This study presented the aim of analysing the presence and forms of physical violence in adolescent dating relationships, with the intent of being able to place the violence on the wide spectrum of violent expressions that can occur. For this reason, this study departed from the data contributed by the national literature related to the involvement of boys and girls in this type of violence (González & Santana, 2001; Muñoz-Rivas et al, 2009, 2007a, 2007b; Sánchez et al, 2008), which was found to be slightly higher than even the involvement presented by international studies. Expecting that the data from the present study would support this tendency, the results were actually found to approximate the international research (Katz, Kuffel, & Coblentz, 2002; Menesini & Nocentini, 2008; Wekerle, 1999): boys and girls admit to being involved in this type of violent relational dynamic in far from trivial percentages.…”

“…The emergence of dating violence as a form of intimate partner violence is linked to the onset of dating and sexual experimentation in early adolescence, between the ages of 10 and 14 [ 23 ]. As relationships become more serious and stable during adolescence, conflict may escalate with relational dynamics based on domination and aggression starting to emerge [ 24 , 25 ]. Dating violence mainly affects adolescents, but also occurs among adults.…”
