Muchos de los escritos quevedianos parten de la Biblia, glosan pasajes, traducen o parafrasean determinados libros de la Sagrada Escritura o articulan su estructura en el marco de la exégesis o el comentario bíblicos. En lo que respecta a la poesía, la utilización de lugares bíblicos (del Antiguo y Nuevo Testamento) es variada y se corresponde con las distintas categorías o géneros poéticos: frecuente en el nivel microtextual, pero sin llegar a ser materia predominante en la poesía moral, escasísima en la poesía amorosa y de elogio, nuclear en la poesía religiosa, y no muy abundante pero sí significativa en la poesía burlesca y satírica. La Biblia es para Quevedo, sin duda, fuente de su pensamiento religioso y moral, y también inspiración fundamental para sus reelaboraciones artísticas.

Résumé Dans Política de Dios. Gobierno de Cristo , Fr. de Quevedo concentre rapidement son analyse, tirée d’une interprétation très politique du texte biblique, sur la critique du ministre : un personnage central de la pratique du pouvoir espagnol depuis la fin du xvi e siècle. Élément perturbateur qui s’interpose dans l’alliance entre Dieu, le roi et son peuple, son statut pose la question fondamentale de la délégation du pouvoir dans la construction d’une monarchie de droit divin. Gouvernant sans titre, il alimente même la polémique sur la justification du pouvoir temporel.
