“…blanckenhorni is used uniformly, whereas in the West Pacific several names were erected, based mainly on minor differences in external features. According to Cole (1969, see also for detailed discussion), all these forms are synonymous and should be described as Sp. margaritatus Schlumberger (1902), by applying the principle of priority.…”

“…for dredged larger foraminifers from Kammu Seamount (Sachs, quoted in Clague and Jarrard, 1973), and (3) an early Maestrichtian date for nannoflora in sediments above basalt in DSDP Hole 192A on Meiji Seamount (Worsley, 1973). Other fossil ages from drill holes on Midway (Cole, 1969;Todd and Low 1970), from DSDP Site 308 on Kökö Seamount (Bukry, 1975), and from the Leg 55 sites (this volume) on Ojin, Nin-toku, and Suiko Seamounts are consistent with the K-Ar data from those volcanoes.…”

“…Existing paleontological reports (summarized by Major and Matthews [1983]) indicate only that the cored section is of Plio-Pleistocene age down to 145 m, Tertiary g (approximately 5-10 Ma) from 146 to 169 m, and Tertiary e (older than about 15 Ma) below 169 m. The Tertiary f zone (mid-Miocene) is missing. Specimens of the larger foraminifer Miogypsinoides were found at depths of 595-927 feet (illustrated in the work by Cole [1969]) and suggest that the upper part of the Tertiary e (Te) section is unlikely to be younger than about 18 Ma (J. Hardenbol, personal communication, 1986).…”
