“…Some coatings show excellent mechanical robustness, but their preparation process is more complicated 49,50 and some of them can only be applied to specific substrates. 16,51 Compared with these previous reports, the sandpaper abrasion robustness of the sample (SHC-0.05AP-DE) in this work is higher than most of the other superhydrophobic coatings. Furthermore, the one-step painting fabrication method of the coating is relatively simple and the coating can be coated onto various substrates, such as glass, metal and plastic.…”

“…The polydimethylsiloxane loaded with fluoroalkyl silane (FAS) functionalized with cerium dioxide (CeO 2 ) was applied by spray on the supports; the contact angle with water was 161 ± 2°, indicating excellent hydrophobic behavior. The super hydrophobicity is due to its surface consisting of a multi-level structure in micro and nano scale [ 25 ]. The same authors (An et al) also point out that the air pockets formed in the grooves by the micro-nano structure help to reduce the contact area of the water drop on the surface, thus improving the anti-wetting properties.…”

“…Development of such applications requires the use of a convenient matrix for efficient incorporation of the nanoparticles, to enhance the performance, avoid the cluster growth and aggregation and improve the handling and recovery of the nanoparticles. Up to now, CeO 2 particles were incorporated in various polymeric templates such as poly(meth)acrylates [ 6 , 7 , 8 ] polyurethanes [ 9 , 10 ], polyimides [ 11 ], polyamides [ 12 ] or polydimethylsiloxanes [ 13 ]. Among the plethora of polymers, one of the best candidates to immobilize CeO 2 nanoparticles (NPs), which fits both environmental and economic issues is represented by cellulose [ 14 , 15 ].…”
