Abstract:Hepatocellular carcinoma is the most common primary malignancy of the liver, with a poor 5-year survival rate of only 15% to 20%. This article presents a case of a large hepatocellular carcinoma in an essentially asymptomatic young woman in good health. She had no history of any of the traditional risk factors of hepatitis, alcoholism, hepatic fibrosis/cirrhosis, hemochromatosis, or diabetes. Sonographic diagnosis was confirmed by computed tomography–guided biopsy.
