Large Eddy Simulation of Flow and Heat Transfer Around Two Square Cylinders in a Tandem Arrangement

Abstract: Y. S o m m ere r AIRBUS Operations, EDET30 Engine and Nacelle Integration, 316 Route de Bayonne, This paper presents a large eddy simulation (LES) of flow and heat transfer in a tandem configuration of two square cylinders at moderate Reynolds number (Re• = 16,000). Compressible LES on a hybrid mesh is used to predict the flow structure and the heat transfer at the wall. The goals of this work are to analyze the flow and the heat transfer around a tandem arrangement of two inline square cylinders as well as to… Show more

“…Couple a steady or time-averaged flow solution with a steady solid conduction solution (e.g. Sun et al [30], Errera and Baqué, [31], Duchaine et al [37], [38]). However, there is a wide range of self-excited unsteadiness encountered in many practical applications, e.g.…”

“…Correct y 3 near-wall scaling of the sub-grid scale viscosity is achieved with the WALE model without the need for dynamic formulations. WALE has been successfully used within conjugate heat transfer simulations of cooled turbine blades [13] , the flow and heat transfer of two cylinders in tandem [14] and ribroughened internal turbine blade cooling channels [15] . The subgrid scale viscosity is obtained from Eq.…”
