“…With simultaneous gastroscopy, the intraluminal opening is easily evaluated and development of stenosis after inserting staple is also evaluated instantly. [16] Other advantages of simultaneous gastroscopy include; giving information to the laparoscopist during operationin terms of best technique to perform, localization of the tumor, simultaneous verification of removal of the tumor with negative surgical margins, and simultaneous evaluation of staple line bleeds or leaks. [14,16] Today, with the continuous development of endoscopic invasive techniques, simultaneous use of LGWR and endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) has been increased.…”

“…However, Novitsky et al (Novitsky, Kercher et al 2006) suggested that these recommendations should be reviewed, because they were not based on evidence but only translated precaution for the inexperienced surgeons with this procedure, aiming over all to prevent the increase of the incidence of tumor rupture. Several authors proposed the adoption of widened indications for the laparoscopic surgery in GISTs (Mochizuki, Kodera et al 2004;Mochizuki, Kodera et al 2006). Several studies described the accomplishment of laparoscopic resection of tumors with dimensions between 0.3 and 12.5 cm (Catena, Di Battista et al 2008;Hohenberger and Eisenberg 2010), supplying evidence for the application of this procedure mainly in gastric GISTs.…”

“…In a treatment of multiple tumors of the small intestine, the length of the remnant small intestine and the preserved function must be taken into consideration. As a surgical treatment, the efficacy of the laparoscopic resection for multiple GISTs is reported [21,22] . Although we considered performing laparoscopic surgery, laparoscopic surgery is recommended when the tumor measures less than 5 cm in diameter [21] .…”
