Laparoscopic treatment of a huge mesenteric pseudocyst - case report.

Abstract: Intra-abdominal cysts and pseudocysts are rarely occurring lesions. Their incidence is reported to be 1 per 100 000-250 000 hospitalizations. The lesions’ rarity and their mostly asymptomatic development causes troubles in early recognition and treatment. The patients’ complaints are unspecific and mostly occur when the cysts are enlarged. Sometimes these entities may cause signs of peritoneal irritation and be the reason for immediate operation. It may happen in the event of cyst rupture, torsion, haemorrhage… Show more

“…According to prior reports, it occurs most frequently in the small bowel mesentery, with an incidence rate of 50–80%, followed by large bowel mesentery with a rate of 15–30%, and retroperitoneal space with a rate of 7–20%. When it occurs in the large bowel, it is more frequent in the right colon 2 3. Although mesenteric cysts have been classified in accordance with embryological and causal standards, they are divided into six groups according to the histological features (box 1).…”
