“…In spite of this, urologists for adults suggest transperitoneal route during learning curve for laparoscopy because of longer operative time for access to the operative field and suturing (23). They also show the same outcomes for both approaches in experienced surgeons, but in several series a longer operative time is signaled (24)(25)(26).…”

“…It takes less than 10 min from completion of the placement of the ports to the isolation of the ureteropelvic junction. It also has the advantage of no colonic reflection and a low risk of injury to intraperitoneal organs or later development of intraperitoneal adhesions, and no risk of spillage of infected urine intraperitoneally [8,9] . We routinely remove extraperitoneal fat before opening Gerota's fascia and partially excise perirenal fat of the low kidney pole before isolating the pelvis in order to obtain good exposure.…”

“…In this study, despite the increased risk of damage to intraperitoneal organs and prolonged ileus, we preferred the transperitoneal approach since it provided a larger surgical area. (9). We think that since the retroperitoneal approach provides a narrow working area for the surgeon, it should be performed either by more experienced surgeons or at institutions were learning curve has been completed.…”
