Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy Requires Conversion in Few Patients Only: A Prospective Study of 370 Patients

Abstract: BACKGROUNDGallstone disease is a major health problem worldwide and laparoscopic cholecystectomy(LC) has become the gold standard surgical treatment of this entity. There are various complications related to this procedure which may lead to conversion into open cholecystectomy. We have done a prospective study of 370 cases in our institution to assess the reasons for conversion from LC to open cholecystectomy.
