Lanthanide complexes with 3-bromine-4-methyl benzoic acid and 1,10-phenanthroline

Abstract: The crystal structures of complexes [Tb (3-Br-4-MBA) 3 phen] 2 (1), [Ho(3-Br-4-MBA) 3 (phen)H 2 O] 2 (2) and [Er(3-Br-4-MBA) 3 (phen)H 2 O] 2 (3) (3-Br-4-MBA=3-bromine-4-methylbenzoate, phen=1,10-phenanthroline) have been solved by single-crystal X-ray diffraction methods. All obtained products were examined and characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductivity, IR, UV and XRD techniques. The thermogravimetric analysis of 1 to 3 was studied, indicating that the decomposition processes of 2 and 3 are diff… Show more

“…Around 345°C in the FTIR spectra of evolved gases (Fig. S11, Supplementary material), there also appear bands characteristic of CO 2 (2450-2300 cm -1 and 750-600 cm -1 ), phenol (3649 cm -1 (m(O-H)); 3066 cm N)) [1,26,[53][54][55]. With the increasing temperature, the bands related to benzonitrile (411°C) were not observed in the FTIR spectra, whereas several bands characteristic of toluene were recorded.…”

“…as promising antitumor activity [7], anticancer [8], antifungal, antibacterial [9], antioxidant [10], antimycoplasmal activity [11] as well as coordination polymers, corrosion inhibitors, optical materials and solar cell dyes [10]. Numerous metal complexes with 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline as a ligand or mixed with other ligands were reported [12][13][14][15]. As a continuation of research in this area, we report herein the synthesis, characterization and biological study of mixed ligand complexes with bis(2,4,4-trimethylpentyl)dithiophosphinic acid and 2,9-dimethyl-1,10phenanthroline.…”

“…In the IR spectra at 539.27 K, molecular gases are identified by the characteristic absorption: CO 2 (2388–2310 cm –1 ), terpy [ν(C=N) 1588, 1468 cm –1 ]. Besides, the absorption peaks appearing at 2952 cm –1 and 1748 cm –1 are assigned to the ν(C–H) and ν(C=O) of aromatic hydrocarbon . Finally, the remaining 2,3‐dimethoxybenzoate ligands broke down with a mass loss of 31.62 % from 582.15 to 883.15 K. From the IR spectra, we just find the characteristic absorption of CO 2 (2401–2277 cm –1 , 666 cm –1 ), H 2 O (3963–3491 cm –1 , 1865–1360 cm –1 ) at 651.35 K. In a word, the total weight loss is 82.42 % against the calculated weight value of 84.64 %, indicating that the final residue is Nd 2 O 3 .…”
