Langzeitergebnisse nach Genioplastik

Abstract: The serial records of 21 patients were analyzed to study the stability of genioplasty performed in the course of orthognatic surgery and to describe its effect on the soft tissue profile. A pre-operative and a post-operative cephalogram as well as a cephalogram one year after surgery of each patient were available. Sagital correction of the chin from 16.5 mm advancement to 1.1 mm reduction and vertical movements between 4.8 mm lengthening and 9.3 mm shortening remained nearly unchanged during the control perio… Show more

“…In detail, no bone resorption or fixation instability was observed in patients on control radiography one year after surgery, and only 2 cases (1,76%) of superinfection where find out. Segner et al 55 published a paper on stability that shows higher variability of the results in terms of soft tissue profile predictability after surgical genioplasty, but on the other hand can confirm, according to Guyuron's et al 56 work, that chin osteotomy is a well-established technique and can be applied individually or in combination with other procedures for each patient, achieving good results and avoiding the cost of an alloplastic material.…”
