“…Currently, the implementation of ecological restoration measures in NRs faces a series of complex problems [53]. It is necessary to assess the impacts of the implementation of policy measures on human well-being from the perspective of ESs, as well as the trade-offs relationship response of ESs [54]. Our analysis indicates that a significant portion of farmland and villages is undergoing transformation into ecological areas, including forests, lakes, and wetlands.…”

“…Furthermore, although humans may only be willing to consider use values (of utilizing something) of realized ESs (Hao et al, 2022), ESs are not solely restricted to use values. Instead, stronger recognition of non-use values (attributed to existence of something, bequest, or altruistic purposes) and option values (of maintaining something for future use and potential benefits) of ESs is needed to (1) shape a more comprehensive view of the contributions nature make to human wellbeing, (2) promote conservation of ecosystems and biodiversity for future use, (3) diversify views on human-nature relationships and interdependence, (4) recognize nature's cultural/spiritual importance that may not be appropriately described as use values, and (5) measure ecosystem conditions and capacities for underpinning sustainable development (IPBES, 2019;CBD, 2020a;Schröter et al, 2021;United Nations SEEA-EA, 2021;Chen et al, 2022a;IPBES, 2022). Therefore, ESs include potential ESs.…”

“…These include the Three-North Shelter Forest Program (TNSFP), the Natural Forest Protection Program (NFCP), and the Sloping Land Program (SLP). NFCP), the Sloping Land (NFCP), the Sloping Land Conversion Program (GGP), and the Shan-Shui Initiative, among others, have achieved positive progress and signi cant results (Chen et al 2022). However, due to the complex causes, deep roots, and wide scope of ecological problems in China, the results of ecological protection and restoration achieved in recent years are still unsolid, and the situation of poor stability and low quality of ecosystems has not been fundamentally improved (Wu and Cai 2009).…”
