Water is useful for supplying household, industrial, and agricultural needs. The availability of water supports food security and decent life. The process of sustaining water resources requires conservation, which is in line with sustainable development goals. The Keyang sub watershed is one of the catchment areas of the Upstream Madiun River, located in East Java. The development of agriculture land in Keyang sub watershed increases the number of disasters. The Central Statistics Office of Ponorogo Regency recorded 24 floods, 11 drought disasters, and 42 landslides in Keyang sub watershed during 2020. Floods and drought disasters in the same location show strong fluctuations in water resources, so Keyang sub watershed requires water conservation actions. The aim of this study is to analyze priority locations for water conservation. Indicateurs de Ruissellement Intense Pluvial (IRIP) is a method for determining water conservation priority locations. IRIP divides surface runoff vulnerability area into three types: generation area, transfer area, and accumulation area. Each area requires different adaptations to conservation techniques. The result shows that Keyang sub watershed has 4.96% strong potential surface runoff generation area. This priority area is suitable for wetland development, agroforestry, and sustainable agriculture. Then, Keyang sub watershed has 0.03% strong potential area of surface runoff transfer, this area is compatible with prevention of erosion and landslides. Keyang sub watershed has 0.63% very strong potential and 18.42% strong potential for surface runoff accumulation area. Accumulation area appropriate for developing flood mitigation strategies.

Aim: The prevalence of plastic particles has become a global crisis for the environment pollution and human life. This study aimed to investigate the contamination of microplastics (MPs) in marine environments and to determine the relationships between MPs pollution and types of land use. Methodology: Two invertebrate species (Anadara granosa and Litopenaeus vannamei) and sediment samples were collected for the analysis of MPs accumulation in the Chanthaburi estuarine ecosystem. The microplastics contamination and pollution were determined with visual identification and environmental index, respectively. The abundance and the land use type of MPs in Chanthaburi Province were compared by a Geographic Information System (GIS). Results: The MPs contamination in the white shrimps were higher than the cockles. The black filamentous type of MPs was a major characteristic which ranged between 0.43–0.85 mm, 0.45–0.65 mm and 1.25 – 3.05 mm in A. granosa, L. vannamei and sediment, respectively. The MPs pollution index (PLI and BCF) showed low levels in the hazardous category. The Chanthaburi land use analysis showed variation in the land use change and a strong correlation between green areas and the MPs contamination. Interpretation: The statistical analysis suggested differences between MPs abundance in our samples.The utilization of agriculture and forest land use types could relieve the impact of MPs accumulation.This study also demonstrated the need for managing MPs pollution in Thai marine ecosystems. During 29–31 September 2019, tropical storm Podul moved into the Kaeng Lawa sub-watershed (KLs), the upstream area of the Chi watershed, causing the worst flooding in 40 years. This study was carried out to analyze the watershed characteristic (WC) variables and prioritize the risks of land-use patterns in KLs, Khon Kaen Province, using a watershed delineation approach. As a result of this study, of the 11 sub-watersheds in the Kaeng Lawa watershed, only KL03 and KL04 were deemed medium priority within their drainage and storage capacity systems. KL01, in the upstream sub-watershed, displayed very low priority. The pattern of land-use that appeared most in KL01 sub-watershed was deforestation, where the upper forest area appeared to show a 63% decrease from 2002 to 2017. The decreased forest area was replaced with agricultural area, for crops such as sugarcane and para-rubber, and fruit farms. Moreover, increases in urban area expansion were found in the downstream area in the north of KLs. The findings of this study reveal that severe flooding in this area was caused not only by tropical storm Podul, but also by the low prioritization of watershed characteristics and patterns of land-use that resulted in decreasing forested area in this watershed area. Consequently, these factors have influenced watershed storage and caused an accumulation of water volume, which regularly results in floods. Thus, flood mitigation should be implemented urgently, in the very low priority areas of the study area first.
