Abstract

Laces: a case study of preservation of the UFRGS Fashion and Textile Museum collection Palavras-chave Rendas Conservação têxtil Conservação preventiva Museu Moda e Têxtil da UFRGS ResumoNeste artigo é tratado o percurso da Coleção de Rendas Lucy Niemeyer pertencente ao Museu de Moda e Têxteis da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, no Brasil, tendo como foco apresentar a estratégia escolhida, as intervenções e os resultados das atividades de conservação preventiva desta coleção. As atividades perpassam pela caracterização dos materiais, registros, higienização, acondicionamento, catalogação e disponibilização do conhecimento visando a preservação da coleção. A metodologia para a conservação apoia-se nas práticas e teorias empregadas em museus nacionais e internacionais que lidam com acervos têxteis. Faz-se referência à importância do espaço virtual e do banco de dados para disponibilizar o conhecimento, pois facilita o acesso, potencializa investigações e proporciona uma forma de preservação. Trata-se de uma pesquisa com aplicação prática, com base numa abordagem qualitativa, empregando o estudo de caso como procedimento técnico. AbstractIn this paper, the course of the Lucy Niemeyer Lace Collection belonging to the Fashion and Textiles Museum of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, is presented. The aim is to present the strategy followed, the interventions and the results of the preventive conservation activities. The activities comprise characterization of materials, records, cleaning, packing, cataloguing and disclosure of knowledge aiming at the collection preservation. The conservation methodology is based on the practices and theories used in national and international museums that deal with textile collections. Reference is made to the importance of virtual space to make knowledge available, since it facilitates access, enhances investigations and provides a form of preservation. It is a research with practical application, based on a qualitative approach, employing the case study as technical procedure.
