Lab-on-a-chip for analysis of triglycerides based on a replaceable enzyme carrier using magnetic beads

Abstract: In this paper an enzyme-carrier-based microfluidic chip coupled with a gold nanoband microelectrode as electrochemical detector for Triglyceride (TG) determination was developed by co-immobilized lipase, Glycerokinase (GK) and glycerol-3-phosphate oxidase (GPOx) on chitosan/Fe(3)O(4) composite nanoparticles with a shell-core structure, which combined the advantageous features of microfluidic chips technology with magnetic beads. This procedure enabled the easy renewal of the microchip enzyme carrier after each… Show more

“…Electrochemical detection of proteins was realized using enzyme-coated magnetic beads. S. P. Chen et al 84 showed detection of triglyceride (TG), in particular of triolein, using this method. First, enzyme-loaded magnetic beads were trapped in a microfluidic channel under a magnetic field.…”

“…Triglycerides can indicate the risk of developing conditions such as coronary heart disease and hypertension. 164 Chen et al 167 analyzed serum triglycerides using a microfluidic bead-based enzymatic carrier chip. Enzymes (lipase, glycerokinase, and glycerol-3-phosphate oxidase) co-immobilised on magnetic nanoparticles reacted with triglycerides in serum samples, with electrochemical detection occurring at a gold nanoband microelectrode.…”

“…Chen et al 88 reported an enzyme-magnetic NP-based micro-uidic device for analysis of triglycerides. A gold nanoband microelectrode was developed as an electrochemical detector for triglyceride determination by co-immobilizing lipase, glycerokinase and glycerol-3-phosphate oxidase on chitosan-Fe 3 O 4 composite nanoparticles with a shell-core structure.…”
