“…The Laramide and Tertiary deformations mark the continental crust with a series of foliations oriented, on average, to the NNE-SSW [Salinas-Prieto et al, 2000] that are severely deformed and metamorphosed. These rocks are made up of, phyllosilicates (micas and green chlorites), quartz micas, and greenschist facies (chlorite, epidote, actinolite, white mica, and sphene) [Campa et al, 1974;de Cserna et al, 1978]. Greenschist facies belongs to lower grade crystalline rocks that form at low pressures under temperature ranges of 250-4008C [Salinas-Prieto et al, 2000].…”

“…Sample GRO-02 is an acidic tuff from upper stratigraphic levels of the Taxco Viejo exposures, ~200 m below the contact with the Mexcala Formation. Both samples contain predominantly recrystallized volcanic material presumably of pyroclastic origin (Campa et al, 1974;Talavera-Mendoza, 1994). In both samples, zircons are small (<50 μm) and whitish to colorless; most are thin and elongated with well-developed prismatic and bipyramidal forms that resemble zircons reported in volcanic successions (Pupin, 1983;Dabard et al, 1996).…”
