La representación de las mujeres terroristas y víctimas del terrorismo en prensa española. El caso de El País

Metodología. El corpus de estudio proviene de una búsqueda con lenguaje natural en el diario El País. Se han recuperado todas aquellas noticias en las que apareciesen estas dos expresiones: mujer* y terroris*. Se han seleccionado 50 noticias y se han categorizado de dos formas: por su marco noticioso (frame) y por los rasgos que se atribuye a las mujeres que aparecen en los artículos. Resultados y conclusiones.De este análisis han surgido cuatro encuadres o marcos: las mujeres como terroristas (el discurso de la excepcionalidad), las mujeres como reclutadoras (el discurso de la experta), las mujeres como víctimas (el discurso sensacionalista) y las mujeres como luchadoras (el discurso de la valentía).[EN] Introduction. This article aims to identify the interpretive frames that link women and terrorism in the Spanish newspaper El País. Methods. The body of the study derives from a search in natural language carried out within the library of El País newspaper. The study is based on the identification and subsequent analysis of the news stories that contained the terms mujer* and terroris* (-wom*‖ and -terroris*‖). A total of 50 news items were selected and categorised according to two criteria: the interpretive frames and the features attributed to women. Results and conclusions. El primero de ellos es el de la profesora e investigadora de la Universidad de Columbia Brigitte Nacos, que en 2005 publica The Portrayal of Female Terrorists in the Media: Similar Framing Patterns in the News Coverage of Women in Politics and in Terrorism. En él, esta autora hace una comparación entre los patrones informativos referidos a las mujeres que se dedican a la política y los que se utilizan para las noticias sobre mujeres terroristas. Estos patrones, dice Nacos, en ocasiones reduccionistas y estereotipados, están condicionados por representaciones culturales sobre las mujeres, están influidos por aspectos de género (gender frames).En el segundo artículo, publicado en 2008, Barbara Friedman, de la Universidad de North Carolina, se centra exclusivamente en el caso de mujeres terroristas suicidas.
