The article raises the problem of philosophical principles and origins of Ferdinand de Saussure’s views. The editors of “Course in General Linguistics”, C. Bally and A. Sechehaye, contributed to the emergence of stereotypes about Saussure as the founder of structuralism, who for the first time conceptually distinguished language and speech based on dichotomy, established the systemic nature of language as an abstract entity, developed a bilateral psychological theory of sign and divided linguistics into the synchronous and the diachronic. This prevented the synthesis of Saussure’s concept as a holistic and internally consistent anthropocentric system of views. The conceptual analysis of the fundamental theses of Saussure’s concept, given in Saussure’s autographed materials, which appeared in 2002, showed that its most important feature is that it was an anthropocentric nomothetic proposition aimed at creating the foundations for the study of human language activity as such, language as such and speech as such. The Kantian idea of anthropocentric transcendentalism can be considered the principal philosophical source of Saussure’s nomothetic project.

“…The present paper is situated in the context of perspectives of presentation and problematization of Ferdinand de Saussure's Course in General Linguistics (CGL). We selected two works that circulate in the Brazilian academic context and which, in general, have the common purpose of introducing the CGL to non-initiated readers in linguistics: Para compreender Saussure, by Castelar de Carvalho (1997Carvalho ( [1976), and the chapter "O Curso de Linguística Geral: modesto ensaio de releitura" (MER), in the book Em busca de Ferdinand de Saussure, by Michel Arrivé (2010[2007). Therefore, considering the purpose of these two works, our objective is to reflect about the way this purpose is achieved and what consequences it may bring.…”

Este trabalho se situa no contexto das perspectivas de apresentação e problematização do Curso de Linguística Geral (CLG), de Ferdinand de Saussure. Elegemos dois trabalhos que circulam no contexto universitário brasileiro e que, de forma geral, apresentam a finalidade comum de introduzir o CLG a leitores não iniciados em Linguística: Para compreender Saussure, de Castelar de Carvalho (1997 [1976]), e o capítulo “O Curso de Linguística Geral: modesto ensaio de releitura” (MER) do livro Em busca de Ferdinand de Saussure, de Michel Arrivé (2010 [2007]). Considerando, portanto, essa finalidade dos dois trabalhos, nosso objetivo é refletir sobre a maneira como ela é cumprida e quais consequências pode trazer. Concluímos que o primeiro opta pela síntese, com intuito fundamentalmente didático; o outro, sem deixar de ser didático, opta pela problematização, em um percurso progressivo e propedêutico. Trata-se, nesse sentido, de uma reflexão que pode impactar o debate sobre formação de professores e pesquisadores no campo dos estudos da linguagem.

The Aphasic Patient: Vulnerability and/or Exclusion

The aim of this article is to account for the vulnerability of the patient/subject affected by aphasia, the loss of acquired language in adults. In the case of a sudden onset of aphasia, the patient is often aware of his/her disorder from the very onset of the impairment. Vulnerability also affects patients suffering from progressive aphasia, mainly due to a collapse of the various components of memory. After describing the main types of aphasia in broad outline, the study focuses on the isolation and exclusion that they generate, starting from a brief study of the emotional impact of the impairment on the language-deprived subject. This will be related to the patient's awareness of the disorder and the notion of awareness in structuring and using language, considered as the expression of thought. Finally, given that aphasia leads to the loss of employment, patients enter a phase of social vulnerability. Their speech is perceived as strange or even "foreign" by others in ordinary communicative contexts. What solutions can be proposed to overcome this state of vulnerability and exclusion, which is often felt to be insoluble by the patients themselves?
