La medecine de l'ame. Le chant de Sanaa dans la societe yemenite

Abstract: BooKS/175 Ceausescu, In Hodac, shepherd flute music was revived from a moribund state and rearranged in contest-winning ensemble format, whereas functions like Sunday village dances were banned and had to be conducted in secret. Nixon condemns much of the work of other ethnographers for ignoring the destructive effects of Romanian state socialism. From this standpoint, the book is uncomfortable to read, but its linkage of ethnographic detail to multi-leveled power relations is compelling. References cited
