Show more

“…In the north of the Paris basin, this withdrawal may have been a little later. The date (12,000 ± 70 BP Beta-265097, i.e 14,083e13,645 cal BP) recently obtained at la Haye aux Mureaux (Debout et al, 2011) and one of two reliable dates but with a large standard deviation from Marsangy (11,600 ± 200 OxA178; 13,900e13,060 cal BP) (Schmider, 1992), could indeed indicate the presence of reindeer herds at the start of the GI-1ca. The date from Marsangy, performed at the very beginning of the AMS method, and thus without ultrafiltration, is difficult to retain for a Magdalenian context.…”

“…The date from Marsangy, performed at the very beginning of the AMS method, and thus without ultrafiltration, is difficult to retain for a Magdalenian context. Furthermore, based on the overall chronological position of the Upper Magdalenian in the Paris Basin and the sedimentary facies identified in the deposit at la Haye aux Mureaux, Debout et al (2011) support a pre-GI-1ca occupation. The date obtained in Alizay (9960 ± 40 BP, i.e.…”
