Cystitis glandularis or glandular metaplasia of the urinary bladder, is a benignreactive metaplasia of the urothelium, which occurs in the context of chronic irritation, in less than 2% of the general population. It is a condition in most casesasymptomatic, but also characterized by nonspecific symptoms and paraclinical findings, which is why this condition is underdiagnosed. Its evolution is mainly focused on the risk of malignant degeneration. This condition affects men much more commonly than women. Two forms of cystitis glandularis are recognized: typical and intestinal form. They differ in their histology, incidence, difficulty of diagnosis, and possible association with adenocarcinoma of the bladder. Diagnosis of certainty is histological by careful analysis of chips from bladder endoscopic resection. This rare pathology is managed by endoscopic bladder resection, with repeated cystoscopy as a monitoring tool. Extensive surgical is needed in severe or recurrent cases. We present here-in a case of a female patient having cystitis glandularis presenting with lower urinary tract symptoms. We review equally data reported in literature. To the best of our knowledge our case represents the fourth case of cystitis glandularis affecting a female patient reported in the English literature so far.

Cystitis glandularis (CG) is defined as glandular metaplasia of bladder urothelium. In most cases the course of CG is asymptomatic. However, some patients complain of hematuria and lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) of varying degrees. We present a case of 45-year-old man with an extensive CG causing acute urinary retention. Although it was initially treated as an infection, prompt ultrasound and cystoscopy helped to establish the diagnosis. Transurethral resection of the cyst with biopsy of the bladder mucosa was then performed. Immediately after surgery the patient noticed significant improvement in urine passing. During the 2-month follow-up there was no relapse.

Glandular cystitis is a differential diagnosis of malignant bladder tumors. Only the Pathological examination can be used to make a diagnosis. Glandular cystitis has no specific clinical manifestation. The clinical signs are not very specific and suggest bladder carcinoma. Principles of treatment for Glandular cystitis were used to treat these causative factors. Trans-urethral resection of the bladder pseudotumoral forms. The course of glandular cystitis is controversial and primarily focuses on the risk of lesion degeneration and requires regular monitoring of both radiological (CT) and, and biological (renal) function, urinary cytology), and control cystoscopy with multiple biopsies. Lack of consensus surveillance and the lack of perspective makes it difficult to understand the evolution of this pathology.We report in our work, a case of Florid glandular cystitis with 15 years of follow-up while highlighting the therapeutic and the prognostic difficulties encountered during follow-up. This risk is primarily associated with malignant degeneration.
