Abstract: HRQoL in patients with chronic heart failure is impaired across all domains. Being female and being in NYHA functional class III-IV, as well as other factors such as depression, osteoarticular disease, hospital admission, body mass index and age, were associated with poorer self-perceived HRQoL.

“…This was very similar to a previous study [34] involving patients with heart failure in the primary health care sector in Spain, which also used the same questionnaires relating to quality of life. Furthermore, when considering individual dimensions of quality of life, as measured by the SF-36, the worst values in our study were related to the physical role and physical functioning, which has been proven in patients with heart failure compared to other serious chronic diseases [11].…”

“…Thus, HF patients and their families experience a significant decline of physical and psychological health. [9][10][11][12][13] Consequently, the management of HF should be addressed in a holistic manner. Therefore, an improvement of the current approach is necessary to provide an answer to the unmet needs that benefit the Spanish National Health System (SNHS), patients with HF, and their informal caregivers.…”
