“…In their own survey, these authors confirm that 43% of young viewers (aged between 18 and 25) prefer to access entertainment contents in their free time via the internet; 21% prefer to go to the cinema; and 12% favour turning on the television set. In contrast, however, Cáceres et al (2011) found that young people did not express a preference as regards accessing audiovisual contents via television or the internet.…”

“…In addition, some scholars have addressed the consumption of television contents (shows and programmes) via new technologies (Lacalle, 2011;Morales, 2011;Castillo-Hinojosa, 2012). Finally, there are a number of studies -mostly based on surveys-that explore the behaviour of young people regarding the use of television through new technologies (Galán & Del Pino, 2010;Cáceres, San Román, & Brändle, 2011;González-Aldea & López-Vidales, 2011). This last set of articles may be regarded as a framework for our study.…”

“…Even though there are authors like Oliver (2005), Videla & Costa (2012), Cáceres & Brändle (2011) which researches focusing on the fact whether Internet is an alternative to television or a complement, special relevance must be granted to those analysing the concept of 'My Time' vs. 'prime time', such as Urrea (2011), Sanmartín Cuevas (2013) or Ruano López (2014).…”

“…There is a wide bibliography about the phenomenon of television linked to Internet. Some authors even consider whether Internet is already an alternative to television media or, on the contrary, only a complement (Cáceres & Brändle, 2011). The technological progresses that allow to watch television in a different way grant the audience a greater control and freedom over the programing selection (Madrid & Marcos, 2013) and opens new possibilities for the development of advertisement strategies (Quintas-Froufe & González-Neira, 2014b).…”

“…Algunos autores llegan a plantearse incluso si internet ya es una alternativa al medio televisivo o, si por el contrario, es tan sólo un complemento (Cáceres & Brändle, 2011). Los avances tecnológicos que permiten ver la televisión de otro modo otorgan a la audiencia un mayor control y libertad sobre la selección de la programación (Madrid & Marcos, 2013) y abre nuevas posibilidades para el desarrollo de estrategias publicitarias (Quintas-Froufe & González-Neira, 2014b).…”
