Proton- and4He-ion-induced L-shell ionization of Pt, Pb and Bi

“…For impinging protons, our data are in good overall agreement with earlier measurements on Pb; they are higher than the ones of Braziewicz et al (1984a) in the overlapping energy regions for Pt and Bi and agree well with the more recent measurements of Padhi et al (1994) on Pb and Bi. For impinging 4 He ions, our data are in good agreement with those of Jesus et al (1985) on Pb, large for the L α line, while they are higher than those of Braziewicz et al (1984b) on Pt and Bi.…”

“…However, no very significant differences arose, giving clear evidence about the better basis to be used and the recent results of Yu et al (1997) give evidence in the opposite direction. Thus we prefer to adopt Krause's basis, that has been more widely used, and in particular has been used by the majority of the authors who have reported data on the elements investigated here (Barros Leite et al 1977, Cohen 1980, 1981and 1984b, Bhattacharya et al 1982, Braziewicz et al 1984aand 1984b, Budnar et al 1984, Jesus et al 1985, Moheb et al 1985, Szökefalvi-Nagy et al 1993.…”
