L‐shaped dielectric resonator based circularly polarized multi‐input‐multi‐output (MIMO) antenna for wireless local area network (WLAN) applications

Abstract: A dielectric resonator (DR) based circularly polarized multi‐input‐multi‐output (MIMO) antenna is studied in this article for wireless local area network (WLAN) applications. In this work, two self‐complementary L‐shaped dielectric resonators are used as two radiators and each radiator is excited by a 50 Ω coaxial probe feed network. The position of the feed network is selected in such a way that it directly generates a pair of orthogonal modes inside the DR. Along with this, diversity in the radiated beam dir… Show more

“…But advantages of CP in antennas swerved the researchers toward new domain of circularly polarized MIMO DRA. Very few articles 12‐18 have been reported in this domain. In Reference 12 the authors have proposed dual polarized triple band (2.21‐3.13, 3.40‐3.92, and 5.30‐6.10 GHz) MIMO DRA for WLAN/WiMAX applications.…”

“…In Reference 13, a corner truncated V‐shaped DR has been utilized to obtain CP radiation and two symmetric orthogonal feed networks have been deployed to lessen mutual coupling between the ports. In Reference 14, two self‐complementary L‐shaped DR based MIMO antennas have been reported with 5.16 to 6.30 GHz impedance bandwidth and 5.20 to 6.08 GHz axial ratio band width (ARBW). In Reference 15, a dual port CDRA based MIMO antenna with dual sense polarization has been presented for WLAN applications.…”

“…A lot of recent designs on DR-MIMO antennas for the application in wireless MIMO system have been reported. 2,8,10,[13][14][15][16][17][18][19] These designs are mainly focused on mutual coupling reduction and link upgradation up to a certain level in some of the specific application bands. Simple feed mechanisms along with low mutual coupling are not extensively explored in the field of DR-MIMO antennas.…”
