Ϫ Racemic and (R)-(ϩ)-glycidol (2,3-epoxy-1-propanol), 3-iodoaniline, phenylboronic acid, (S)-(ϩ)-2,2-dimethyl-4-hydroxymethyl-1,3-dioxolane were purchased from Aldrich GmbH and used without further purification. 1,5-Cyclooctadiene dichloro palladium(II), [35] norbornadienechlororhodium(I) dimer, [36] (R)-(Ϫ)-2,3-O-isopropylideneglycerol tosylate 3, [37] and Pd(Ph 3 P) 4 [19] were prepared according to literature methods. 3-Iodophenyl guanidine (1e) [5b,18] and sodium p-iodobenzenesulfonate [24] were prepared according to methods that we have described previously.…”
