L‐Proline as an Efficient Organo‐Catalyst for the Synthesis of Polyhydroquinoline via Multicomponent Hantzsch Reaction.

Abstract: L-Proline is found as an effective catalyst for the one-pot four-component Hantzsch reaction to afford polyhydroquinoline derivatives (IV). The method is environmentally benign proceeds with high yields and allows an increased variation of substituents. -(KARADE*, N. N.; BUDHEWAR, V. H.; SHINDE, S. V.; JADHAV, W. N.; Lett.

“…The oxidative esterification reaction was amenable to both electron-poor and electronrich aromatic aldehydes (entry 12 and 14). More gratifying was the compatibility of the reaction with aliphatic aldehydes as substrates (entries [16][17][18][19][20].…”

“…Quinolone and their derivatives have several biological activities, such as anti-malaria [1], anticancer [2,3], anti-inflammatory [4], anti-bacterial [5], anti-asthmatic [6], anti-platelet activity [1,3,4,7], anti-hypertensive [8]. Therefore, several methods have been developed for the synthesis of quinolone derivatives utilizing various catalysts [9][10][11][12]. Recently, green and eco-friendly synthesis have attracted much attention.…”
