L’area lateranense in età tardoantica e le origini del Patriarchio

Abstract: I Castra Equitum Singularium dalla linea delle mura si spingevano probabilmente fino alla facciata settentrionale dell’attuale Palazzo Lateranense. Le aedes Laterani (= Domus Faustae) dovevano trovarsi sotto la Scala Santa e costituivano la sede del vescovo di Roma almeno dal V sec. La domus Annii Veri va posta poco più a sud o subito a nord-est, ma in tal caso la domus dei Pompeii va spostata verso via Merulana.
