Abstract

This paper presents how to comply the model of a straight teethed bevel gear using the tooth surface equations. Bevel gears with straight teeth can be machined with straight edged cutting tools using different machine-tools. These machine-tools and cutters can produce octoid I and octoid II teething. From the equations of both these teething profiles we can generate certain point clouds using Matlab software. We can then fit adequate surfaces to the point clouds using Catia environment. After generating all the necessary surfaces we obtain a connected surface which can be filled with material. The resulting body is the model of the bevel gear.The model can be used for any application like simulation or 3D printing.
